The 2010 Koester family Christmas tree....
That is seriously the branchiest.tree.known.to.man. It's not a very fat tree, but it is FULL. Very good for decorating (uh hello, why do you think I picked it?)! Here are the stories of some of my favorite ornaments. Some are new, some are old, but all are loved :)
Two of my favorite ornaments from this year's trip to Hobby Lobby. Hmm... they're covered in glitter. Sorry, honey.....
Isn't that sparkly gold heel just the cutest thing you have ever seen? I want that shoe in real life!
Growing up, my mom always put lots of birds on her tree. I always loved them and they were some of the favorites amongst my siblings as well. This will be the 4th Christmas Gregg and I will be spending together as a married couple and over those four holiday seasons I have managed to collect a handful of reallly cute little fellas. Here are a couple....
My husband hates that little green fatty, but I just can't get enough of him (which I guess is why I also have him in gold-hahaha)!
Now, I must warn you. This next ornament is hideous. It's awful. The picture doesn't even do justice to its ugliness. But it holds an incredibly special place in my heart. This is Clara, from The Nutcracker. Her hair may or may not be falling out... and she may or may not be missing a foot. She is very old, and she was handed down to me because she was one of my absolute favorite ornaments as a child. She always has and always will remind me of MaBelle, my grandmother, who owned her own dance studio and was just an incredible woman.....
The next two ornaments are representative of a couple of my childhood activities. I danced for about ten years (I wasn't any good, but it sure was fun!) and played the trumpet all throughout high school. Most of my favorite high school memories come from my band experience. Wait, I mentioned that I'm a nerd, right?.....
I bet you can't guess from where this next ornament came.....
You guessed it! It's from six flags! Jkjkjk, it's from Disneyworld, of course! And not just any trip to Disneyworld... Gregg and I made a trip to see Mickey back in May of 2009. We spent our last days together, before Gregg left for Afghanistan, in the happiest place on Earth! I could seriously go every.single.year.
This last ornament is one of the most meaningful ornaments on our tree. Gregg would kill me for saying this, but I honestly do believe that I am married to a true American hero. This is one of a few military inspired ornaments on our tree, but definitely my favorite....
I hope you enjoyed my little trip down memory lane. I love decorating my tree every year, but I also seriously love wrapping presents. I try to put as much thought into the wrapping as I do the gifts themselves. I feel like the way a present is decorated is a gift in and of itself! Some of my favorites so far from this year's stash.....
I'm seriously loving the brown postal wrapping paper this year. And the roll was only $1 at the Dollar Store!! One year I am going to commit to wrapping all of my presents in brown paper. The sister is convinced that is will be "boring", but I just know I can keep it spicy with pretty ribbons, picks and bows! I still have some presents to wrap. In fact, I still have some gifts to purchase! Why am I blogging?!? There are only 14 shopping days left!
What about you? Do you have all of your gifts wrapped? Purchased? Do you have any ornaments that hold a special place in your heart?

Only 14 days left, holy cow. lol. I still have stuff left to get too! I must say, the brown paper with the red and teal (third one down) is my fav!
ReplyDeleteSeriously all you had to give Haven was that ribbon. Think she'll pull that off and start walking around with it in her mouth :)
ReplyDeleteCourtney, that gift is my favorite as well! And what looks teal (weird!) is actually a really bright green. The picture doesn't even do it justice. And the funny thing... it's for my brother... who won't even care the tiniest little bit! :P
ReplyDeleteJen, you're probably right. She will take off the wrapping and ribbon and be in heaven with all of that "crinkle" goodness!
Band nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd.
