In other news, Gregg's grandmother gave me a gift card to Home Goods for Christmas (you can see why I adore this woman).
I'm the world's worst gift card spender. If it was my own money, who cares? But I feel like I have to spend gift card money on the.perfect.item. so I debate and debate until I usually put down the shirt/candle/decorative wall art/pair of socks or whatever it is I'm holding and walk out with nothing. I know some people think they are impersonal or whatever but, in my opinion, gift cards can be really awesome gifts! Anyone who knows me knows I loooooove Home Goods (let's just call it HG because we're tight like that. Huh?), so it was incredibly generous for Grandmother (or Delphia or Mumer for you other ca-razy cousins) to get me such a wonderful gift.
BUT.... I can't just spend the "free money" on anything! That would be, like, disrespectful to GM (let's just call her GM because we're tight like that. Um, what?) or something! Am I right or am I crazy?
Don't answer that. Actually, I'll allow the sister to answer that. Mostly because I know she will agree with me, but whatevs.
There was a point to this post. I just know it.
Oh yes! I picked up two beauts with my gift card. I walked out of there spending less than 20 bucks, not even the whole gift amount, but I was happy with my purchases. I just need a little help. I love them, but I'm not entirely sure what to do with them. This is where you, my faithful 28 followers, come in.... I need some ideas!
The first item is this adorable pear....
I had seen it at HG multiple times. I had picked it up. I put it back down. I walked away from it. Then I walked back to it. You know, just to check on it. It was still there......... but it was still $13. Cute, but the Mr. would
And it was. And it was only FIVE dollars! How could I not? I couldn't not. Right? Right.
Right now I have it stuck under a DIY cloche I made a couple of months ago (yes, the same one that still needs to be spraypainted). The cloche, at the moment, is sitting on my dining room hutch... but I'm not totally lovin' it. Any ideas?
Moving on...
I also found this amazing bubble glass hurricane thing. It immediately drew my attention
So let's hear some ideas, folks!

I HATE how much I love that store. Now if only they had Old Time Pottery here (we'll call it OTP).
ReplyDeleteSeriously, the little things in my apartment that get the most comments are from HG or OTP. Love it.
Adam here. You know I don't read this for the decorating ideas, but it absolutely slays me when you cross out things in your writing, as well as your use of different size fonts and boldness...you are quite the blogger, my friend :)
ReplyDeleteUM, did me and my brother post at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME???????
ReplyDeleteUmmmm, yes you did. And why is that? Well... let's see... because you're AWESOME!! Love you both!
ReplyDeleteEric, the funny thing is that I actually DO call it "OTP!" You need to do an entire apartment tour so I can see all of your cute stuff! Or maybe I'll just come to the Arctic and visit you one of these days :)
First off, if the Mr. disapproves of your pears, you can disapprove of him eating at TB. (see what I did there?)
ReplyDeleteSecondly, with that glass pear enclosure, you could spray paint it white, like it's christmas frost.
I don't know why but I'm totally in love with that pear. I mean really, I wish I could have one too!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why so many boys are responding but I love it more than this actual post!!! But not more than I love the boys :)
ReplyDeleteDayle, I think the pear is too big for the cloche. It could just be the pic, but it looks kind cramped. Like, it needs room to breathe. For the bubble hurricane, I'm thinking it might have to be the first of spring decor for you. Like some really loose petals filling it up with something viney draping out of it. Springy-like, you know?
IDK, maybe all my ideas are wrong.
Except that I love the above mentioned boys
My vote is to free the pear. I like it better on its own. And I love the bubbly hurricane-it's very versatile and has the potential to work with all seasons/holidays depending on what you fill it with. Definitely worth the $7.
ReplyDeleteOn the topic of giftcards- I agree they can be great gifts as long as they are not the Visa or AMEX ones. Those are just too generic. I think a gift is a waste if there is no thought behind it.
Well, I'm enjoying your blog... Hope all is well :)
